From Martin Dorey - lifelong camper and campervanner and committed environmentalist - a manifesto on how to camp greener and make responsible choices while enjoying the outdoors.

Planet earth is in crisis. The changing climate is affecting everyone, and everyone has a responsibility to do all they can, at every level, to make things better. Campers, campervanners and anyone who enjoys the outdoors are not excluded from this responsibility. In fact, often it falls to us to protect our spaces and fight to keep them the way we like them. After all, how can you enjoy the outdoors, camp, climb, walk, bike or kayak and NOT BE AN ENVIRONMENTALIST?

It's not possible, right?

We, as campers, need to take care of the thing we love. We need to be mindful that we use and buy products that are planet positive and dispose of them properly once we have had good wear out of them. We need to be clean and tidy and not trash, inadvertently or otherwise, the places we go to enjoy. We need to stay in places that can handle our presence and that are doing things right. We need to tread lightly in our leisure time as much as we need to tread lightly in our everyday lives. Our planet, and the plants, animals and insects that inhabit it, are suffering the effects of climate change and it is our duty, as outdoor people, to demonstrate to the rest of the world that we can live in harmony with nature.

This book shows us how we can do it.

It is a book for people who want to reduce their impact and carbon footprint but don't want to stop exploring. It is for people who want to get out, off the sofa, and into the wilderness without killing it. It is for people who think they could do more, but don't know how.

It is a manifesto, a rallying cry, a plea to do better, and it's for every camper and campervan and motorhome owner. It will ask of everyone who likes spending time outdoors to think about their impact and to take urgent, important steps to soften their footprint on the world.
