About the Author
Dr Ambrogio A. Caianireceived his PhD from Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge in 2009. Since then he has taught at the universities of Greenwich, York and Oxford. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Modern European History at the University of Kent. Caiani’s main research interests are Revolutionary France and Napoleonic Italy, and his work has been published in several leading acadic journals. He is the author ofLouis XVI and the French Revolution, 1789–1792andTo Kidnap a Pope: Napoleon and Pius VII, which won the 2021 Franco-British Society book prize.p
