Strength and conditioning training has many benefits to young athletes when done properly. It can increase muscle strength, power and endurance, and it will help protect joints, muscles and tendons from sports-related injuries and improve biomechanics.
Yet as social media has expanded, and much of the fitness sector remains poorly regulated, we’re seeing more and more young athletes entering the gym and following the guidance of unqualified social media ‘gurus’ and famous faces, which can lead to unsafe and ineffective workouts.
With nearly two decades of experience training more than 1500 youth athletes, Arj Thiruchelvam is an authority in this space and is on a mission to provide safe, methodical and evidence-based advice for strength and conditioning training.
Combining the very latest scientific research with practical guidance, Strength and Conditioning for Teenagers features:
– Digestible information on the importance of strength and conditioning training
– Advice on achieving the right balance of exercise, nutrition and rest
– How to avoid concerns and mistakes
– Step-by-step warm-up routines, mobility and drill sessions and an example of a 12-week training programme
Arj’s specific strength and conditioning advice will help youth athletes achieve a notable competitive advantage and maximise their sporting performance in a safe and manageable way.
