The thrilling tale of the downfall of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire as seen through the eyes of one senator from Ancient Rome.

Marcus Ignatius Ruso lived at the heart of classical Rome. When Augustus decided to remove those senators he saw as an obstruction to his imperial ambitions, Ruso finds himself cast out as Roman history takes a drastic new turn,.

So Ruso took up his pen and chronicled the greatest events of his day. From great battles to slave rebellions, from the downfall of Julius Caesar to the ascension of Augustus, Ruso was there: and now he has the chance to set the record straight...

This is the story of Rome told through the eyes of someone who was there, in a masterful fictional memoir from the author of the Vindolanda and City of Victory series. Perfect for fans of I, Claudius and Robert Harris's Cicero.
