The only deadlines you have are the seasons; even if you miss those, it doesn’t usually matter. Cast off the Lines is the complete reference to cruising life for anyone dreaming of leaving land life behind and embracing long-term sailing. Written by experienced liveaboard cruisers and hugely popular YouTube presenters Liz Cleere and Jamie Furlong, this guide is packed with wisdom, lessons learned and all the skills and practical tools you need to take the plunge and navigate a stress-free life of voyaging at sea. Illustrated with colour photographs and diagrams, it covers how to: · Make the mental leap to becoming a cruiser · Finance the lifestyle, with checklists and budgeting templates · Choose and buy the right boat for you or upgrade your existing boat · Work from your boat and stay connected · Look after yourself and prevent ill health onboard · Provision for long voyages · Care for your boat with repair and maintenance advice · Live afloat with children and/or pets · Make sustainable sailing choices · Decide where to go with information on cruising grounds Drawing on two decades at sea, the authors depict the reality of this off-grid lifestyle, with all its joys and pitfalls, and show how you can overcome most practical objections and challenges, with first-hand accounts and worked examples. This bible for long-term cruisers will motivate you, give you the tools you need to make it happen and, if you are flagging, recharge you with the encouragement to see it through.
