The biodiversity hotspot of Borneo is home to a remarkable and diverse avifauna, featuring around 600 recorded bird species – a trip to this island is high on any birder's wishlist. The birdlife features a riot of colourful forest dwellers, mighty canopy-dwelling hornbills, soaring raptors, and a host of charismatic endemic species.
Covering all three political entities on the island, this fully revised and updated edition of Susan Myers' field guide – the first dedicated solely to the island – is indispensable for anyone interested in the avifauna of Borneo.
This new edition features an extensive introduction providing information on geography, climate and habitat. The accurate text covers the identification, voice and status of all species and distinctive subspecies of the island, accompanied by detailed distribution maps as well as almost 150 colour plates covering all major races and plumage variations.
Authoritative yet conveniently sized for the backpack, Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo is the definitive guide to the island's birdlife, and a book no visiting birder can be without.

About the Author
Susan Myers is an experienced bird tour leader, specialising in leading tours in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Japan, with the US company WINGS.
Susan grew up in Australia and has been travelling and birding in Asia for more than 30 years. A particular fascination with the tropical forests of the Sundaic Region led to her writing the Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo, followed by a photographic guide to the region (both published by Helm). Many years of exploration dealing with heat, humidity and biting invertebrates have not dimmed her enthusiasm for the amazing biodiversity and wonderful birds of this special region.
